|Wang Yi Meets with Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser of Pakistan|
On September 8, 2018 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser of Pakistan in Islamabad.
Wang Yi first conveyed the greetings from Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Li Zhanshu to Asad Qaiser. Wang Yi said that the friendship between the two peoples is the foundation of the sustained and forward-looking development of China-Pakistan relations and also the important driving force for China-Pakistan all-weather strategic cooperative partnership. The parliament is the representative of the people. It is hoped that the legislatures of the two countries will enhance exchanges, share experience in state governance and administration, promote friendly exchanges between the two peoples, and consolidate the public opinion foundation of bilateral relations. As a major cooperative project to promote the economic development of Pakistan, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has achieved important early harvests. In the next step, the CPEC is going to gradually extend to industrial cooperation so as to improve people's livelihood, increase employment and benefit all the Pakistani people. It is hoped that the National Assembly of Pakistan will continue to attach importance to and support the construction of the CPEC and contribute to the development of the CPEC.
Asad Qaiser asked Wang Yi to convey his warm greetings to Chairman Li Zhanshu. Asad Qaiser noted that the CPEC is conducive to Pakistan's economic and social development, the deepening of Pakistan-China relations, as well as regional prosperity and stability. The National Assembly of Pakistan fully supports the construction of the CPEC, and hopes to speed up the construction process of the CPEC, so as to create more job opportunities for Pakistan and benefit more Pakistani people. The Pakistani side stands ready to strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges and legislature communication between the two countries, and learn the experience from China in such aspects as state governance, anti-corruption and vocational education.
