|Wang Yi Meets with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu of Turkey|
On September 27, 2018 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu of Turkey on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Wang Yi said that China, as a friend of Turkey, firmly supports Turkey’s efforts in safeguarding national stability and development. We are willing to, together with the Turkish side, maintain communication at all levels, increase mutual understanding, advance mutually beneficial cooperation, and fully accommodate each other’s core interests and major concerns. Under the current situation, both sides should strengthen coordination and cooperation in international affairs, jointly commit to safeguarding multilateralism, international system and international rules, and work together to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the emerging market economies and the vast number of developing countries.
Mevlut Cavusoglu expressed that Turkey attaches importance to its relations with China, and hopes to work with the Chinese side to enhance high-level exchanges, expand practical cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, energy and counter-terrorism, and promote relevant major projects for smooth implementation. Speaking highly of China’s just and balanced position in international affairs, Turkey stands ready to enhance cooperation between the two sides within multilateral frameworks.
