|Wang Yi: Make China-Brazil Cooperation an Example for China-Latin America Cooperation, Cooperation Among Emerging Markets and South-South Cooperation|
On July 25, 2019 local time, when jointly meeting the press after the Third China-Brazil Foreign Ministerial-level Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue with Foreign Minister Ernesto Araujo of Brazil, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi noted, the Chinese side is willing to make joint efforts with the Brazilian side to elevate China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership to new highs and make China-Brazil cooperation an example for China-Latin America cooperation, cooperation among emerging markets and South-South cooperation.
Wang Yi said, Brazil has been the first among developing countries to establish strategic partnership with China, the first among Latin American countries to establish comprehensive strategic partnership with China, and also the first among Latin American countries with a bilateral trade volume with China topping 100 billion US dollars. China-Brazil relations are of strategic and leading significance. No matter what happens in the international landscape or any changes in our two countries, the Chinese side will always attach importance to Brazil's important role in international and regional affairs and will support the Brazilian government leading its people to develop economy, improve people's livelihood and explore a development path suited to its national conditions. We highly value the comprehensive strategic partnership with Brazil and are ready to constantly deepen all-round cooperation with Brazil.
Wang Yi briefed the outcomes of the comprehensive strategic dialogue. Wang Yi said, the China-Brazil Foreign Ministerial-level Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue is the first in-depth strategic communication between the Foreign Ministries of the two countries since the establishment of the new Brazilian government. It is of great and positive significance to enhancing mutual understanding and mutual trust and strengthening exchanges and cooperation.
Both sides believed that China and Brazil should steer China-Brazil relations in the right direction from a strategic height and with a broad vision. China and Brazil, as the largest developing countries and representatives of emerging markets in the eastern and western hemisphere respectively, have huge potential and large space for their cooperation. The two countries are cooperation partners by nature, and both are fully capable of achieving common development and prosperity. As two important emerging forces in the process of world multi-polarization, China and Brazil share broad common interests and needs for cooperation in international and regional affairs. Strengthening friendly cooperation not only serves the interests of the two countries and the two peoples, but also contributes to regional and world peace, stability and prosperity.
Both sides believed that the summit diplomacy provides strategic guidance for the sound and stable development of China-Brazil relations. The Chinese side welcomes President Jair Bolsonaro’s visit to China in October this year. President Xi Jinping is also willing to attend the BRICS Summit in Brazil at the invitation afterwards. It is believed that the two Heads of State will, through exchange of visits, draw a new blueprint for bilateral relations and elevate China-Brazil comprehensive strategic partnership to new highs.
Both sides agreed to continue their respect, understand and support for each other on issues concerning their core interests and major concerns to constantly consolidate the political foundation of bilateral relations.
Both sides agreed to improve bilateral practical cooperation. Both sides will well implement the outcomes of the fifth meeting of the China-Brazil High-Level Coordination and Cooperation Committee, give play to the roles of bilateral mechanism and strengthen the integration of the Belt and Road Initiative and the development strategies of Brazil. While deepening cooperation in traditional areas of agriculture, mining, infrastructure, aviation and space, new growth points of cooperation in such areas as scientific and technological innovation and digital economy will also be explored. Both sides need to ensure the success of commemorative activities for the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship, facilitate exchanges between the two peoples and deepen the traditional friendship between China and Brazil.
Both sides agreed to step up coordination on multilateral fields, enhance communication and coordination in multilateral frameworks including the United Nations, G20 and BRICS, jointly deal with various kinds of global challenges and make positive contributions to safeguarding world peace and stability and boosting global growth.
Wang Yi pointed out, the 11th BRICS Summit will be held in Brazil in November this year. The Chinese side fully supports the Brazilian side hosting the Summit and supports all the BRICS countries to send out the positive message of unity and cooperation of the BRICS. It will do credit to the second "Golden Decade" of the BRICS cooperation.
