|Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha Exchanged Messages on the 45th Anniversary of China-Thailand Diplomatic Relations|
On 1 July, Premier Li Keqiang and Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha exchanged messages on the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Thailand.
Premier Li noted in the congratulatory message that China and Thailand are close and friendly neighbors. Over the past 45 years since the two countries established diplomatic ties, bilateral relations have grown from strength to strength and cross-sectoral cooperation has yielded fruitful outcomes. China-Thailand relations have delivered real benefits to the two peoples and set a fine example of China's relations with ASEAN member states. This year, the two sides have supported each other in a spirit of solidarity in the fight against COVID-19, strengthening the traditional friendship and reinforcing the notion that "China and Thailand are as close as one family". China highly values its relations with Thailand, and is ready to work with Thailand to step up cooperation in COVID-19 response, pursue high quality Belt and Road cooperation, and contribute to the economic recovery and sustainable development of China, Thailand and ASEAN.
Prime Minister Prayut said in the congratulatory message that looking back on the journey of friendship and cooperation between Thailand and China, it is distinguishing that our two countries have shared many precious memories and weathered difficult periods together. This has forged a close and deep connection between Thailand and China. Indeed, this special relationship is aptly described by the saying "China and Thailand are as close as one family". As we advance towards the next decade of relations amid global uncertainties, including the current COVID-19 situation, it is even more imperative for Thailand and China to join hands in the spirit of friendship and solidarity to address such challenges before us. The Royal Thai Government will work closely with the Chinese government towards elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to new heights.
